Anthony Löwstedt
Born in 1961 to a Swedish father and a British mother, I grew up in Sweden and Hong Kong. After studying philosophy, history of ideas, and theory of science in Gothenburg and then in Vienna, I graduated with a doctorate in 1994. I have worked with human rights organizations, including the International Press Institute (IPI) 1994-2004 and Miftah ˆ The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy. My current position is at Webster University's Vienna campus, where I teach media communications, international relations, political science, history, and philosophy. I also taught at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank. I worked as a senior media consultant for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Jerusalem from December 2004 until June 2005, and I have worked with various UN agencies on other projects. I have also worked as a factory worker, music composer, research assistant, and high school teacher. I have lectured and published extensively on the issues tackled in this book, as well as in and on philosophy and media studies.
